DFS works fine for me with 4.17 and 4.18.

In smb.conf [global] you get "vfs objects = dfs_samba4, acl_xattr, 
full_audit"

And per DFS-share:

[share]
msdfs root = yes
msdfs proxy = \<server1>\<share>,\<server2>\<share>

With these settings you can point your clients to \\<domain>\<share>
