That is a bit different to what you previously posted, it now sounds 
like you want to run a single DC in a VM and test various mail related 
configs against the DC. If this is the case, I would get your DC 
provisioned and then clone the entire VM. Now do your testing, making 
notes as you go along. If something goes wrong, delete the entire VM and 
clone the initial DC and try again. Rinse and repeat until you get the 
result you expect. Once you are sure everything will work, use your 
notes to make alterations to a running production DC (or better still, a 
Unix domain member).
