I assume this means "yes"...
I thought so, but it isn't stated explicitly in the page linked above.

I mean: it's clear a move to AD is not needed when going from 3.6 to 
4.x; it does not explicitly state that that move might easily be 
postponed (with "easily" meaning the same howto applies in both cases).
