[Samba] Samba across multiple subnets

Years ago i used

tap interfaces for vpn, also if your router is a i.e a linux machine
( dependig to your setup this maybe a firewall and/or vpn gateway, but
bind samba to internal and vpn interfaces, perhaps use additional ip
address acls)
install samba on it i.e configure
i.e as smb member ( without any shares,with wins proxy

i.e

[global]
    wins server = 172.16.200.12
    wins proxy = yes
    dns proxy = yes

keep netbios and internal dns domain in sync i.e via dhcp

subnetbrowsing should work with this

in some other routers you may enable netbios helper module etc
