SRV fields are required for AD integration, for samba3 PDC setup,
workstation will use WINS or netbios broadcast to find their DC.

having DOMAIN as a netbios domain string is ok, but as DNS suffix is
concerned, in the case of samba4/AD it is sure to be a source of pain to
have a single-label dns domain (you can check the
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300684).

Anyway, with windows7 computers, it will be easier for you to install
samba4 (you can find easy to follow tutorials on the internet).

If you use samba4, the windows workstation are able to auto-register
their DNS entries so you won't have to integrate the dhcp with bind9.
And you won't need to apply windows7 registry fix.

Cheers,

Denis
