[Samba] Snow Leopard Client side SMB tuning?

I wondered if anybody knew of any performance tuning tips for Mac's connecting over SMB - similar to the DWORD options that can be adjusted on Windows clients.

I am testing a storage system for use at home which uses SMB to deliver video in real time to Avid media composer. My storage box is ubuntu server 10.10.
