[Samba] smbd fails to start on Fedora Core 4

Well from the strace output, it appears that smbd is in
fact opening the secrets.tdbf ile successfully.

open("/etc/samba/secrets.tdb", O_RDWR|O_CREAT|O_LARGEFILE, 0600) = 4

Yeah.  It does look like an issue with the init script.
Unless the init scripts are pointing at a different smbd
that you ran in your tests.  Are the RPMS from the Fedora
folks?  Or from Samba.org?

Strange.....
