I'm using RH8.0 with kerberos 1.3.1 (from source tar.gz) and package
pam_krb5-1.60-1 compiled from source.rpm against kerberos 1.3.1 libs.
I've used samba 3.0.0, 3.0.1rc2 and 3.0.1 compiled from source.rpm with
the following options:

        --prefix=%{prefix} \
        --localstatedir=/var \
        --with-configdir=/etc/samba \
        --with-privatedir=/etc/samba \
        --with-fhs \
        --with-quotas \
        --with-smbmount \
        --with-pam \
        --with-pam_smbpass \
        --with-syslog \
        --with-utmp \
        --with-sambabook=%{prefix}/share/swat/using_samba \
        --with-swatdir=%{prefix}/share/swat \
        --with-libsmbclient \
        --sysconfdir=/etc/samba \
        --with-ldap \
        --with-ads \
        --with-krb5=/usr/local/krb5 \
        --with-winbind \
        --with-acl-support
