Hi,

If you mean to use Samba as a file sharing protocol
between Unix to Unix, I would advise not. Samba is
excellent from Unix to Windows, Windows to Unix.

Use NFS for Unix to Unix connectivety.

I've tried to use Samba in our mixed OSX/Linux/XP env
as I desired common file locking. But the Samba
client to connect Linux to Linux (which is Kernal
space and not user space), is restrictive and seems
buggy (smbmount using mount -t smbfs).

Also, realize that smbmount is not released by
Samba.org.
