New to Samba and Linux

Greetings all -

I am new to both Samba and Linux and am trying to get Samba working.  I am using Samba 2.2.2 on a SuSE box.  I was able to install Samba and can now see the Linux machine on my XP workstation.  However when I try to map a drive to it a user_name, password dialog is displayed.  I have tried to enter my user_name to the LINUX box but it doesn't work.  What user name and password is this requesting?  Is there any way so this dialog is not shown (connect automatically)?  Thanks for any help!
