Please look at "man 5 smb.conf" and seek for "remote announce" and 
"remote browse sync". May be that is what you are looking for.. Also, if 
you have servers on different subnets and the subnets are connected 
using routers/gateways, you may need to enable something on the routers. 
I know that for sure with Cisco routers.
