Hello to all.

I have a HP-UX Workstation B180L running PARISC-Linux (Debian) 3.0

when i run apt-get install samba (whitch is the default way) everything
installs

it ask me if i want to run as deamon or inetd: i have tested both.. same
result :/
I have also converted /etc/passwd to smbpasswd file

bonzo:/etc/samba# l
total 16
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 59 Feb 1 14:00 debian_config
-rw------- 1 root root 696 Feb 1 14:21 secrets.tdb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 280 Feb 1 14:08 smb.conf
-rw------- 1 root root 3022 Feb 1 14:00 smbpasswd

when i try to start samba i get following error in my logfile.

[2002/02/01 14:21:45, 0] passdb/secrets.c:secrets_init(43)
  Failed to open /etc/samba/secrets.tdb
[2002/02/01 14:21:45, 0] lib/messages.c:message_init(97)
ERROR: Failed to initialise messages database

nmbd -D starts but not smbd -D
