Just one piece of advice.
samba does not give instant gratification. If you read this mailing list,
you will see MANY many problems encountered by users. Take your time and do
it right.
Most of these problems are due to a lack of knowledge on the part of the
user/administrator. Not surprising, since network file sharing is a lot more
complicated than it sounds. And, samba can be configured in a myriad of ways.
For example, as a file server, be aware that there are file corruption
problems from time to time. Test every application you want to run
with the samba server. Some applications give trouble with certain
samba configurations.
There will be authentication problems, too, no doubt.
Don't be in a hurry to set this up or you will have some unhappy users.
There are many books on samba. And many internet resources, starting with
samba.org. All of them are good if you take the time to use them.

Is Samba the way that I want to go on this and if it is can you recommend some books that will be of value to a NEWBI to Samba and some that when I do get a grep on it will good as referance books later down the road ?
