Adding to Win2k domain

I am having a problem adding a fresh samba installation to a win2k domain,
the config file used was successfully used to add one machine but not the
machine I really want to add, here is the output from the command
'smbpasswd -D 10 -j <mydomain> -r <my win2k pdc>', using sa,ba 2.2.0
solaris 7 binary package distribution.

I've had a look around the web, but normally its when some trivial error
has been made, but as I said, I've using the same config file to add
another machine to the domain.
