I give in; I need help with Samba. I know many people enjoy using
this software and dern it, I want to also. I'm getting all gummed up
referencing 8 different man pages and howto docs. to the point where
my brain is goop.
Setup:
Slackware 8 box with 10/100 ethernet connection into switch.
Windows 98 box with 10/100 ethernet connection into switch.
Windows 98 box has HP Deskjet 820C printer running on parallel port.
Switch is uplinked into DSL Router.
Objective:
I want to be able to move files to and from the windows box, from the
Slackware box. I also want to be able to execute printjobs from the
linux box and have them routed through to the printer on the windows
box.
I am attempting to set up Samba 2.2.0 that came with Slackware 8. Can
someone help break it down for me what i have to do 1st, 2nd, 3rd,
etc., in order to establish a proper connection or "mount."
My muddling around is producing some interesting messages, but I know
that I'm far from having anything in working order.
