Locking accounts out

I have a samba share created on a sun box.  The PC accounts, that have
access to this share keep getting their NT accounts locked out.  I looked in
the log file for one of the users and noticed the following entry:
[2001/11/29 09:55:28, 1] smbd/password.c:pass_check_smb(504)
  Couldn't find user 'mlindebo' in smb_passwd file.
What is the smb_passwd file and how would I go about upgrading it with the
new users?
