Website development and IE4

Hi!

A strange effect:
When I open a html file with a html editor to edit it, ok.
When I check it with IE4, it is ok.
Back to the html editor it asks to reload the actual file because it has
beeen opened by another program.
What?
IE4 writes to html files?
Strange!

SuSE Linux 6.2,
Samba 2.0.5a,
VMware 1.0.2,
NT4 SP5,
Dreamweaver2,
Homesite4.

This behaviour is nonsens.

How can I fix this?
I have no concret idea...
