I was thinking of a general network trace using a Sniffer or software
that does the same (NetXRay, etc). My comment regarding the possibility
of such a trace actually referrs to the environment you are working in.
If you are in a shared environment, traces are easy to capture since all
traffic is received by every node on the network.

If you are in a switched environment, you need to either setup a mirror
port on the switch so that you can monitor traffic at either the
workstation or at the server port, or you need to obtain an inline
analyzer such as those made by Wandel and Golterman. These (pricey)
analyzers install between the switch port and the network node (again,
workstation or server) and allow traffic to pass through to the port or
node while capturing all traffic sent through that port.
