"shared mem size" parameter and smbstatus

questions about "shared mem size" parameter and smbstatus:

Why is the value samba sees:

filesize (1048576) != expected size (5242880)

different from the value in proc:

/proc/sys/kernel/shmmax:-  33554432

I'm no expert, but this seems goofy to me.  Guru-dudes (and 
dudettes) feel free to chime in).
