No subject

I'm having problems with reliable performance of samba.  I'm running samba
2.0.3 on a NetBSD-1.4/sparc machine.  File access is just so-so (various
errors).  I was looking at my smbd log file and see the following:

The suspicious item is  "api_fd_reply: INVALID PIPE HANDLE".
Can anyone point me to where to go in terms of debugging this?
