Problem compiling it

Hi Guys

I'm trying to compile samba the lastest version and i keep getting this
same error message.

cc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 6
make: *** [smbpass.o] Error 1

it stops there that's it i get my prompt back can someone help me about
this please?

i have linux with kernel 2.0.35 on a pentium 75 40Mbytes of memory 80
mbytes swap space about 8 gigs hdd.
