Samba-2.2.1a on HPUX

Hi Hannu,
Yes, there are a number of people looking at this. At the moment, 2.2.1a
uses mmap, which is going to cause corruption on a HP-UX system due to the
lack of a unified cache. The latest CVS 2.2 turns mmap OFF via a smb.conf
parameter (use mmap=false) on HP-UX.
Problem is that this has exposed a problem where the .tdb files can be
corrupted as well under heavy useage when all access to the tdb files are fs
calls. We are investigating this now.
Keep an eye on the lists for further developments in this area.
Hope this helps,
Don

Subject: Samba-2.2.1a on HPUX

Hei,

I've been following discussion on samba-technical postlist for few days
about 2.2.1a not working in HPUX.

We have a same problem in one of our sites. They upgraded from 2.0.6 to
2.2.1a and it didn't go well... (corrupting the .tdb files).

Do you know if there are any way (compile option, trick, hack, patch, etc)
that we coud make the 2.2.1a (or any 2.2.x version) work with HPUX?
Or do we haveto wait for samba-team to fix it?

At least I hope that samba-team is taking this seriously and are working
on this.
