I didn't know about the web site you gave above, thank you.
The PO file under samba-archive/source/web/po/ is not used yet
because of portablity issue of gettext, as far as I remember.

In japanese version, gettext() and PO files for swat are already working:
 http://www.samba.gr.jp/project/samba-ja/index.html.en
(GNU gettext source files are included in source/libintl/.)
But it is based on samba-2.0.9 release, and not ready for 2.2.0.
Since japanese version have also fixed many multibyte-character
handling bugs, it will be difficult to make diffs of original and
japanese version and apply the patch to 2.2.0.
I suppose japanese version should work for other languages if corresponding
PO file is provided.
