Help! Network Neighborhood Vanished

I killed nmbd.  Then I renamed browse.dat & wins.dat to browse.orig
and wins.orig.  Finally I restarted /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D
A core file was created again and I get the following message in 
log.nmb
