The way I read the original question was that he was trying to keep the "profiles"
separate with the emphasis on the plural. i.e. keeping the profiles from one version in a
different directory.    Using different profiles is subtly different.

So if you use one version of firefox and have created several profiles from that version,
does a running a new version of firefox try to massage ALL of the existing profiles even
though you're only asking for the default?
