Mostly because I'm sick of hearing "We don't support
Linux/FireFox/whatever".

Apple don't have a monopoly on desktop operating systems.

I'm happy to put the boot into Apple too: The iPod sucks (except for the
wheel), the iTunes store is crippled, and when I purchase music I expect
to own it, not rent it. Better? :)

If we don't make some noise every now and then, those alternatives
become even more fringe and unmaintainable. Then they aren't
alternatives at all.
