Sounds interesting but intimidating.  For those with less kernel-foo, 
how about a talk about "What are some of the cooler things we can 
switch on in the kernel config step" or "Which of the two USB HID 
drivers do I pick and why?".

NB, those are my questions, not my proposals for talks I'll give :)
