As I understand it (and I could be wrong), nisplus compatibility mode is
simply the original nis/yp, which is somewhat insecure.
We definitely do not use compatibility mode on our set up (40+ RH7.2/7.3
clients and Solaris 8 servers).
You definitely do not need the + in those two files in normal nisplus
operation.
