No. JCIFS always has to go through the network so the '.' abbreviation
has no meaning unless you can map it to '127.0.0.1' (e.g. using lmhosts
file) but it will not be any faster and it may not work at all if the
machine doesn't have the network interface turned on for power management
purposes.
