[jcifs] unable to fetch workgroups under winxp

hello there

i am trying to get a list of all available workgroups in my network
using a winxpmachine. no winsserver id present in my network. when using
"smb://" the only thing recieved is "Unknown host: ..__MSBROWSE__.<01>".

I run the same code on a wink2k box were it works out fine. i can access
shares on the mentioned winxp box with querys like
"smb://<server>/<share>/" but it is impossible to get a list of
workgroups. is there anything i have to configure to get the available
workgroups?
my conf is: winxp(sp1), java 1.4.2, jcifs 0.7.11. i have a pppoe
connection on the xp box and have connection sharing activated.
