I too use a minitar wireless card I got for free as a factory test model
:-) but I am very impresses to see a wireless PCI card at this price NEW
I got mine from http://www.pcrange.com.au
It performs very well under very high interference areas such as my
server room :-)) and it runs under 11mbit's under those conditions at
50M away very impresses im accessing my email using it at 100M line of
sight range on my laptop using a 3COM X-Jack wireless PCMCIA card which
has a hope less antenna im receiving a semi strong signal according to
windows. I like the small form factor also as it is very slim and my
Ethernet card is a gigabit
And has heat sinks on each side and this card fits in with about 10mm to
spare I also have all the utilities for this card at
minit-wireless-canberra.n3.net all the uncompiled drivers and Utilitys.

Good day all,
Just thought I'd spread the news that there's a new PCI WiFi
card around under the name of 'Minitar', works fine under
linux ( even Slackware ). Best bit about them is that they're cheap,
generally ~$50.
Anyone heard of any WiFi networks being done up north in
Townsville Queensland?
Regards.

Paul,
In client mode or hostAP?
http://www.nodedb.com/australia/qld/townsville/
Seems like a reasonable sized network for a small town

Client/Ad-hoc mode currently. I've got one linux box setup to act as a
generic gateway from the wireless world to the
LAN/ADSL/NET. Haven't worked out yet how to get WEP running - this
card seems to reject all iwconfig set requests
(instead it comes with its own X based configuration tool)

Well, there's about 120,000 people in this city - not /too/ small ;-)
I'm also duly impressed. Alas, I am probably not in a suitable housing
for setting up a omni-wireless (rented unit).

It's a 'RT2400' device, that's the best that I can obtain.
The WWW site is
http://www.minitar.com/index.php?maincat=product&cat=wireless&prod=wls_p
ci&page=1
Unfortunately I was doofus enough not to note down the chip numbers
before I installed the product.
Perhaps later when the machine is not in use, I'll rip open the case
again and take a photo.
Regards.
