"Nice" to hear someone else has the same problem. I am still
confused by not being able to select channel / ESSID just because
there is a stronger signal in the area than one I would like to 
"lock on".

BTW, my expirience with two cards in two desktops connected to
two different antennas (SBFA and double quad) 10m apart pointed 
in about 145 degrees different directions with cards 6 channels 
appart were rather dissaponting. I could "hear" other signal
almost as if I was on the same channel. Monitoring data received
showed lot's of misinterpreted data (non existent IP addresess,
non used protocols,... )
