Orionoco-Wavelan unable to communicate

Hi,
I am using orinoco.c, orinoc_cs.c (version 8) driver,
which is provided in pcmcia-cs-3.1.31 pkg. I am
running my experiments in Ad-hoc mode.
The two laptops are able to communicate when i use
either two Lucent/wavelan(gold 11 Mbps) cards OR 
two Lucent/Orinoco(11 Mbps) card. 

But when I use one Orinoco and one wavelan Card, the
two laptops are unable to communicate.??

I am using red hat 7.1 and 2.4.12 kernel.
