Hi,
the double-eight antenna provides 14dBi and is simple to made (both
wire and pcb version).
Check http://patraswireless.net/antennas.html Stacking two of them
should result to (theoretically) 17dBi.
Trevor's waveguide can be made of a flat thick (1.5mm) zinc slice
(the way we make paper cubes from a plain paper), opening slots on
it, and then fold and weld seams. With rectag. aluminum tubes man
needs router to open slots. Flat thick zinc, you can just punch slots
on to it.
Modifing devices for outdoor use? Check http://patraswireless.net/devices.
