Hello.

I have a problem with a 3com card (3CRWE73796B).

when I insert it, cardmgr loads the orinoco module and everything seems ok,
but when I try to issue a command to the nic I get an error like this:

# iwconfig eth1 essid any
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; Device or resource busy.

and in the syslog appears this line:

kernel: eth1: Error -16 shutting down Hermes chipset

and

cardmgr[155]: executing: './network stop eth1'
cardmgr[155]: executing: 'modprobe -r orinoco_cs'
kernel: orinoco_cs: detach postponed, 'eth1' still locked

I use kernel 2.4.18 and pcmcia-cs 3.1.33 and orinoco 0.10

iwconfig command shows this when I insert the card:

eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"" Nickname:"Prism I"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
          Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Sensitivity:0/3
          RTS thr:off Fragment thr=0 B
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0/92 Signal level:134/153 Noise level:134/153
          Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0

and this after a command is issued:

eth1 no wireless extensions.

Sometimes I saw iwconfig telling me that the nic operates at 24GHz!!!

does anyone have some idea?

thanks, bye
