3com airconnect

G'day All,

I have 2 of these cards, 1 an early model (3crwe737a-e1) with detachable
antenna, and a late model (3crwe73796b-e1) with a non-detachable antenna.

I would like to use IBSS Ad-Hoc mode between these 2 cards, 1 on a windows
box (win95b), the other linux (slackware 8.0, 2.4.14, orinoco_cs 0.8a,
wireless_tools.22).

So far they work between each other in Pseudo IBSS (Proprietary Ad Hoc),
as 3com call it, though the late model card will only work in windows, in
linux it will not transmit, though it will receive and try to transmit
(the late model card not working in linux is not an issue for me, just an
observation).

iwconfig only seems to give me 2 choices, managed or ad-hoc, in ad-hoc it
complains that essid must be set for IBSS ad-hoc mode, which I do, but the
windows box will only communicate with it in Pseudo IBSS Ad-Hoc mode.

No amount of fiddling the setting seems to get them to communicate in IBSS
Ad-Hoc, or have I just got all the terms mixed up as what I want to do is
to allow mixed wireless card brands/operating systems to communicate via
wireless.
