Hi, I'm trying to set up wireless networking at home but am lost.... I have a
Toshiba 4600 notebook with a wireless card (prism2 type I think), I went and
got a d-link DWL-500 pci-pcmcia card with DWL-650 pcmcia card.

Sytem details are: Notebook has Mandrake 8.1 with kernel 2.4.13,
pcmcia-cs-3.1.29. The card is being detected as wvlan_cs, no errors are
reported (tried the orinoco_cs driver too) comes up as eth1 (? not wlan0 ?).
 iwconfig gives:
eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"home" Nickname:"mehmet"
          Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:2.422GHz Cell: 02:02:2D:23:91:FE
          Bit Rate:2Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Sensitivity:1/3
          RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
Link Quality:0/92 Signal level:-102 dBm Noise level:-102 dBm
          Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0
The pc has RH 7.2, kernel 2.4.7, using kernel-pcmcia-cs-3.1.27
The wvlan_cs module gave errors but orinoco_cs loads with no errors
iwconfig gives:

eth2	IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"home" Nickname: "box"
	Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:2.442GHz Cell: 00:00:00:00:00:00
	Bit Rate:2Mb/s Tx-Power=15dBm Sensitivity:1/3
	Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
	Power Management:off
	Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
	Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0

ofcourse, it don't work.
I used ifconfig to set up the network details, also put the details in
/etc/pcmcia/network.opts just in case.... each can ping itself but can't see
each other.
What do I need to do to get this to work? -oh yes, using yenta-socket on both.

Regards, Mehmet
