Good Antenna for 16 miles

Howdy,

I have a house located about 16 (crow) miles from 
the location where I work.  My house is on a hill
with a line of site view of the wireless 
access points at my work.  I acquired a 
parabolic wire mesh antenna for my orinoco
silver card.  I can establish a connection,
but not by much.  It runs about 6-7 SNR.
I was curious if anyone has found a way to get
an extra few electrons out of the system.  Maybe
an amplifier?  I can get about 90% of packets
through at 1 MB, but it is touchy to say the least.

Any range extension thoughts?

O yea, the Antenna is 24 db gain.
