[Samba] Samba server fails to save settings

Hi Rowland,

I have another machine with duplicate share pathnames etc. Samba works as expected on that machine.

To save me time trying to find fix for Yast; can I copy the samba files from the working machine to the new one and edit any text in smb.conf necessary to suit the new one?

The following are the files in /etc/samba/ directory in the working machine:
dhcp.conf
lmhosts
secrets.tdb
smb.conf
smbfstab
smbpasswd
smbusers

In the new machine only following files exist:
lmhosts
smb.conf
smbusers

Many thanks for your help.

Aref

OK, if you don't want to use an editor to add the share and then reload
Samba, you need to ask OpenSuse why its package doesn't work.

Samba used to supply SWAT, but this was removed some years ago because
of numerous problems, this was the only GUI tool that Samba has ever
supplied. All other GUI tools are supplied by third parties and are
nothing to do with Samba, so for problems with these third party tools,
you need to contact the third party, which in this case is OpenSuse.
