Well of course, if you have hundreds of users then you wouldn't use a
DC as a fileserver, but then it wouldn't be a small office ;-)

No, from my experience, it is more of 'it isn't broken, so do not fix
it', which goes on right up to when it does break and it is usually
management that stops any updates because it will cost ;-)

You seem to be very lucky, there are places that struggle to get one
server.
