Yeah. :-)
Wouldn't this require the "storage server" to be member of the domain?!
Since I'm in the process of migrating WS to the new environment, the old PDC can't be demounted right now, so my paswords, due to a re-evaluating even some of the usernames are different.

Agree! But - me as an admin, running on a stable environment (e.g. Debian Jessie) can only use the rather old 4.1.6 Samba. 
The developement made big progress in the meantime, and if I would build from source I'm on 4.6.3.
And now the wiki. Valid for which version? ;-)
I decided to run on Strecht, which brought me to 4.5.8...  So now im on average - with knowledge inbetween. ;-)

All profiles behaving the same. I have a couple of test users, always starting from scratch (Registry Profile list cleaned, User deleted, Profile deleted, ...
