[Samba] What in samba 4.1 prevents a '/' share?

Thank you for your suggestion, but the results are the same on my end:
04:51 providence:/etc/cups> sudo mount.cifs //phoinix/config /mnt/phx-cfg -o
username=david,uid=1000,credentials=/home/david/.dcr/mountcfile,noperm,sec=ntlmv2
mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
Client log:
Dec 6 04:52:10 providence kernel: [50131.404712] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed
w/return code = -13
Nothing in server log. Glad I'm not the only one seeing it. This is a strange
one. Andrew has another curiosity to master now ;-)
