Michael,
Thanks for the info, I made the mistake of typing the .local at the end
of the domain (habbit), making it search for an ads instead of searching
for the netbios domain.
Thanks,
Marc

Hi Marc,
First thing to consider is whether or not you're running SP1. The domain
join can be done without SP1 but SP1 addresses some of the issues you
might see.
1. install SP1
2. Looks like you already did this but verify you have the reg
settings set in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\P
arameters
"DomainCompatibilityMode"=dword:00000001
"DNSNameResolutionRequired"=dword:00000000
3. Make sure you are using compatible authentication negotiation.
I like to set client NTLMv2 auth = Yes in my SMB.conf and set the
Windows clients to accept NTLMv2 only.
4. It's not necessary but can be depending on your network config you
might need to ad your SAMBA server to the WINS servers list on your
Windows clients.
