[Samba] WinXP connecting to a samba server with mixed guset and non-guest shares

Hi,

I have a samba server with both guest and non-guest shares (map to guest = bad user, guest ok = yes on some shares and no on other shares). I have a WinXP client that connects to the server, and the WinXP user is not defined on the server, so I expect that after rebooting the client, and trying to connect to the auth share, the login dialog would pop-up on the client.

Using a WinXP client, after rebooting, I click Start->Run and type \\myserver. I get the list of shares.

Then I double-click the auth share - sometimes the login pops up and sometimes I get a message that I'm not authorized.

When I type \\myserver\auth I always get the login dialog.

Is there something I can do in the samba configuration to always get the login dialog?

Thanks,

Uri.
