[Samba] SAMBA: how do I tell SAMBA to not prompt for id/passwords when connecting from windows (vista)

I am confused as well.

That would be helpful. If there are no shares on the linux box then
you then do you want access your windows shares from linux?

cifs is for that. It is built into the kernel and mounted with
mount.cifs or mount -t cifs
