[Samba] compile client only

[Marshall, Lucas M CIV 541CA1, 541CA1]

I spent some time looking for a how-to on compiling just the smbclient (3.0.26), however could not find one.  Having trouble compiling from source for HP 10.20, however I only need the client.  gcc version 2.8.1 ( I think this might be the problem but not sure) Thanks in advance for any help.
 
 
Configure runs fine, however when i run make i get:
