[Samba] Samba Vs Microsoft 2003 AD

Dear all

             i have one question and bit confusion between Samba - NT4 - Win2k3
i have work on NT4 and it is netbios name .... and Win2k3 working on TCP/IP model and Dot name Domain name support and DNS base working then samba is working with Netbios means samba alternative of NT4 not win2k3 

is it possible samba work like windows 2003 AD means Dot name support and TCP/IP Model can anyone give me detail about this confusion between this Three model
