[Samba] net rpc join -U root error

Yeah, odd that that command isn't working now. 

samba is running:

[root at gomer ~]# ps ax|grep mbd
 6765 ?        Ss     0:00 smbd -D
 6768 ?        Ss     0:00 nmbd -D
 6769 ?        S      0:00 nmbd -D

but when I nmap scan, it looks like its not responding on ports 139 and 445.

[root at awilliam mnt]# mount "//gomer/adam" /mnt/gomer -o username=adam
mount error 111 = Connection refused

but i have in my smb.conf

  interfaces = eth0, lo
  bind interfaces only = Yes

any ideas?
