Have you got a backup of the tdb files?

I had a lot of problems to upgrade to the etch (samba 3.0.24) from samba
sarge (3.0.14):

the tdb backup files was the only way to get samba works again

I'm continuing to try the upgrade, last week end I tried the 2.0.25a
compiling it from source, but I had the same problems. Every time I
downgrade samba and replace the tdb files
