[Samba] guest problems

Hi the below config has worked fine in the past but is giving me 
problems now

[global]
        netbios name=server
        workgroup=workgroup
        encrypt passwords=yes
        security = share


[homes]
        comment = Home Directories
        read only =no

[publicshare]
        path=/usr/share
        read only = No
        guest ok = Yes
        browseable = yes

when i map the homes share and connect using a username / password it 
shows me all of /
this is samba-3.0.25a_1,1 fbsd 6.2
The public no login share works fine
